In this context, ‘Afro Voyage’ translates to a journey of/in/through Africa. My journey began in 2009 when I crossed Botswana’s border for the first time to study in South Africa. South Africa has been my place of rest for the past six years with a few brief visits to neighbouring countries. While on this journey I have discovered a lot about me and about Africa, discoveries that I believe might not have occurred had I not left my ‘harbour’. I had a glimpse of Africa and fell in love with her. I have then resolved to journey on and get to know her (as anyone in a relationship would their partner). By writing my thoughts, I wish to learn who Africa is, meditate on what it means to be African and create a platform for Africans to understand each other better as a people. The writing will be of how I personally feel and experience Africa.
